Real Madrid join Chelsea in pursuit of the midfielder despite signing a new contract | CaughtOffside

Real Madrid have joined Chelsea in their hunt for Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka.

Lobotka was linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window with journalist Ciro Venerato speaking to Area Napoli claiming the Premier League club had contacted his agent.

A report from Football Italia recently claimed Labotka had signed a new contract with Napoli due to be announced sometime before the turn of the year, but that hasn’t stopped clubs from expressing interest in signing the midfielder.

According to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are now in the race to sign Lobotka.

Real Madrid’s interest doesn’t make much sense after recently signing Edouardo Camavinga and Auerilien Tchouameni, but Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are now in the final stages of their careers.

Chelsea will be looking for a new midfielder for the foreseeable future, with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho due to expire at the end of the season, and the Premier League club struggling to find consistent form this season.
